Community Asset Transfer Announcement for Monteith Park
After a long period of exploring options, speaking with partners, and assessing several potential sites including Lanark racecourse, we’re excited (and a little nervous!) to share that Kirkfield United intend to pursue a Community Asset Transfer for Monteith Park.
The cost of grass roots football is enormous. Kirkfield are spending around 80% of our annual income on pitch hire, that's clearly not sustainable longer term, therefore getting our own facilities is a priority for the club.
Monteith became the obvious candidate for us. Its location, potential, availability and strong community connection made it stand out above every other site we reviewed.
We believe it’s a place with huge opportunity: a space that can be brought back to life, support local groups, and become a home we’re genuinely proud of.
It’s going to take a lot of work, and we are fully committed to making it happen.
Your views will shape what Monteith becomes. We want to build something inclusive, useful and genuinely wanted - not just by the club, but by everyone in Carstairs Junction and Village who uses the space.
We also know Monteith is already well used by dog walkers, runners, families and community events. We have no plans to restrict access. We want to support that shared use and help it grow.
